How to Prepare for Exams

• Study old exam papers and specimen papers thoroughly
• Carefully select the parts of the subject you intend to revise.
• Make a time table for revising
• Seek out the central questions in each of the parts of the subject you have chosen to revise.
• Condense the content of your chosen topics into very brief summarizing notes.
• Think up questions you might be asked.
• Keep in touch with other students and with your tutor to broaden your ideas and maintain contact with reality.
• Scan through the paper and find the questions you have prepared for.
• Start writing soon, if it helps to,” unfreeze you”.
• Take your best question first (or second).
AS you answer a question:
• Examine the wording carefully
• Very quickly list some relevant points from the topics
• Move back and your list as you sketch an outline plan for your answer
• Take the time to plan your answer before you start writing.
• Everything you write should be relevant to the specific question asked.
• Consider planning later questions in the advance.
• Draw up a time plan for the exam.
• Don’t run wildly over your deadlines.
• Do your best to write legibly.
